London UK: Minsky's Restaurant

I went out for a meal with one of my big sisters at Minsky’s Restaurant; had a lovely time catching up and celebrating her birthday, my treat (“,).

The restaurant is within the Danubius Hotel in Regent's Park and is open to hotel guests and the public. Being a short walk or bus ride away from either St John’s Wood or Baker Street Stations, it is easy to find following Google Maps.

Upon arrival, we entered the hotel lobby and followed signs to the restaurant. Unfortunately, the actual restaurant was closed, however a few tables had been set up in the bar area to accommodate those who had pre-booked to eat. I would have loved to have experienced the full service provided by the establishment and enjoy the decor of the restaurant but this was not possible.

There was no one there to greet us as we had walked into a bar, I had to go to the bar counter to make myself known and be seated. A bartender pointed us towards the tables which had been reserved and we took our seats. After about 10 minutes of waiting and having a chinwag, I went to the bar counter again to enquire about our booking and find out when we would receive our menus. Finally, a waiter came to attend to us and moved us as we had sat at the wrong table… Ha!

We were given a set menu to choose from and had our drinks orders taken.

I throughly enjoyed my starter and dessert, however I found the steak to be chewy and bland. I have been working towards giving up meat especially red meat but I know what a good steak should taste like. My fish cake was packed with flavour, soft on the inside and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. Dessert, delicious, the lemon was powerful and the fruits fresh.

Would I visit Minsky’s Restaurant again? I’m not so sure, the service wasn't amazing, and I was disappointed in my steak… I may give it a second chance to redeem itself; I reckon the steak was pre-prepared rather than cooked fresh as the restaurant was closed, the service may have been better had it been open.
