Style File: Catwoman in Milan

Italy is a beautiful country with loads of regions to explore, I wanted to see Milan as it is one of the fashion capitals. I was rather disappointed by the lack of things to do (other than a half-day tour). The consensus seemed to be the same amongst other tourists - I spoke to - also some locals; Milan has great architecture, is fantastic for shopping and can be lots of fun during fashion weeks, otherwise it's a quiet city with not much going on.

After shopping, naturally I wanted to eat, regain all that energy I used haha! Pasta, pasta, pasta and more pasta… it was the same in Rome. I wasn't surprised by this but, although the food was great tasting, not so great for those on a low-carb diet. I struggled to find meals that weren't carb heavy; I had to do mix and match with sides.

One recommendation for light food and drinks is a cozy little cocktail bar called Sacrestia Farmacia Alcolica, click here to read about it on my other post.

One of my favourite things about Milan (besides the shopping) is probably the coffee, I love the fact you can get coffee with a shot of any cognac (or whatever spirit you request) for about 5 Euros. It adds a nice boost to a cappuccino! I’m aware this is not exclusive to Milan, it's a common thing throughout Italy.

Italy is known for the espresso, it become popular in the 19th century after the invention of the steam coffee machine. Legend has it, Ethiopia is the reason we have coffee today, supposedly discovered by a goat herder. I often wonder how on earth we come to consume the things we do today, legends like this give insight.

The beverage can be found in restaurants and cafés all over Italy, if it's not on the menu, just ask. Thank me later…

Have you been to Milan? How did you find it? Maybe there is a few things I missed, I know it's supposed to be a great ski destination, but I wasn’t there long enough to explore that.
